Overview
Production was temporarily suspended in August 2023 due to a fire, restarting on 9 January 2024 and reaching full capacity by March 2024.
Production
Production overview - 2025: silver 5.3 Moz; 2024: silver 4.9 Moz, lead 31300 t, zinc 13500 t.
Processing
The mine has a full surface facility with a mill that can process 1,000 tons of ore per day. It produces silver-lead and zinc concentrates, which are transported by truck to a smelter in Trail, British Columbia, Canada.
Equipment
The primary mining method is Underhand Closed Bench (UCB), a method patented by Hecla. This method, along with underhand cut and fill, utilizes rubber-tired equipment to access the veins through ramps developed outside of the ore body. Access to all underground workings is via the 6,205 ft deep Silver Shaft. A new internal shaft, the #4 Shaft, has been completed and is operational, reaching 9,600 feet below the surface to access high-grade ore in the Gold Hunter/Lucky Friday Expansion Area.

Overview
The Fire Creek deposit is a low-sulfidation, epithermal deposit with mineralisation occurring in steeply dipping epithermal veins within Tertiary basalt flows and intrusive rocks. The mine was acquired by Hecla Mining Company in July 2018 and placed on care and maintenance in the second quarter of 2021 after processing the remaining non-refractory ore stockpile. Mining has historically been conducted using underground methods including longhole stoping, cut and fill, drift and fill, and back stoping.

Overview
Hecla Mining's Aurora mine in Nevada remains on care and maintenance. The site is operated by Hecla's subsidiary, Klondex Aurora Mine Inc. A significant development is the federal approval for the 2026 exploration program at the Polaris project, located within the Aurora mining district. On 20 November 2025, the U.S. Forest Service issued a Finding of No Significant Impact and a Decision Notice, which was announced by the company on 1 December 2025, allowing for drilling and related exploration activities to proceed. The Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council announced the completion of the federal permitting for the Polaris Exploration Project on 31 March 2026. A company executive has previously indicated that Hecla is considering a potential restart of the Aurora asset in approximately five years, contingent on further exploration, investment, and permitting.
Processing
The site has an existing 600-ton-per-day mill that is available to process potential new discoveries.
Expansion
The primary expansionary activity is the 2026 exploration program at the Polaris project. This program will test several near-surface epithermal vein systems, including Martinez, Juniata, and Ann, as well as deeper systems at Brawley Peak, Sawtooth Ridge, and Polaris. The project will involve exploration activities on up to 150 acres, with a maximum of 250 drill sites. Hecla has noted that its significant private land holdings in the area could streamline the permitting process for any future discoveries. The company's budget for exploration and pre-development in Nevada, which includes Aurora, was planned to almost double in 2026 compared to 2025.

Processing
The plant has a full surface facility with a mill that has a capacity of 1,000 tons of ore per day, producing silver-lead and zinc concentrates. These concentrates are shipped by truck to Teck Cominco Metals Ltd.'s smelter in Trail, BC, Canada. Metallurgical recoveries for 2025 were 94.5% for silver, 94.3% for lead, and 85.1% for zinc.
Equipment
The mine uses the Underhand Closed Bench (UCB) mining method, which Hecla pioneered. The #4 Shaft project is complete and operational, reaching 9,600 feet below the surface to access high-grade ore in the Gold Hunter/Lucky Friday Expansion Area.
Expansion
A surface cooling project is expected to be completed by mid-2026. Capital investment is also being made in a new tailings facility and underground development. In 2024, exploration drilling was planned for an area east of the 30 Vein, between the Gold Hunter and the historic Lucky Friday Mine. The UCB mining method has significantly improved safety and productivity. The 2025 silver production was a record for the mine.

Overview
The Kwinana Lithium Hydroxide Refinery is a downstream processing facility that processes spodumene concentrate from the Greenbushes lithium mine. It is located in the Kwinana Industrial Area, approximately 35km south of Perth. The refinery is owned and operated by Tianqi Lithium Energy Australia (TLEA), a joint venture between Tianqi Lithium Corporation (51%) and IGO Limited (49%). The refinery's Train 1 has a nameplate capacity of 24,000 tonnes per annum of battery-grade lithium hydroxide. However, the facility has been grappling with persistent operational issues and has operated well below this capacity. In the quarter ending September 2025, the plant reached 46% of nameplate capacity, but this dropped to 35% in the quarter ending December 2025 due to maintenance outages. IGO has expressed low confidence in the refinery's ability to achieve sustained, profitable production and views it as a high-cost asset with no clear path to appropriate returns. As of June 2025, IGO had fully impaired its 49% investment in the asset. The future of the refinery is the subject of ongoing discussions between IGO and its partner Tianqi Lithium. In March 2026, the state's environmental regulator renewed the site's operating licence with tougher controls following numerous complaints from residents regarding dust and odours in 2025.

Processing
The operation consists of four processing plants: a technical grade plant, two chemical grade plants, and a tailings retreatment plant. The processing method involves gravity, heavy media, flotation, and magnetic processes to upgrade the lithium mineral into a range of concentrates. The combined planned processing capacity is approximately 7 million tonnes per annum of dry ore.
Equipment
The mine utilises a contracted diesel mining fleet, and the operator is investigating a transition to an electric mining fleet. Specific details of the current mining fleet are not publicly available. A load and haul services contract commenced on 1 July 2023 for a 7-year period.
Expansion
Chemical Grade Plant 3 (CGP3) received its first ore in December 2025 and is expected to reach its nameplate capacity of 2.4 million tonnes per annum of ore in 2026. A further expansion is proposed to increase the mine's development envelope from 2,207 hectares to 2,826 hectares. This expansion is currently undergoing an environmental review process, with a public review period expected to begin in February 2026. The expansion plans include an additional waste rock landform, expanded water storage capacity, and a highway crossing.
