Potassium
Opened
2014-01-01
Overview
The HB Mine is an active solution mining operation in New Mexico, producing Muriate of Potash (MOP) using a solution mining and solar evaporation process. Product is processed at the HB Plant and then transported to Intrepid's North Facility for final processing.
Production
Specific production figures for the HB Mine are not detailed, but the company's overall potash production was 224,000 short tons in 2023 and 295,000 short tons in 2024. The HB facility's output was lower in Q1 2023 and experienced a delayed start-up in 2025.
Processing
solution mining and solar evaporation process. This method involves injecting a saturated brine solution into the former underground workings to dissolve remaining high-grade potash ore pillars. The resulting potash-enriched brine is pumped to the surface and into solar evaporation ponds. After evaporation, crystallized potash is harvested and processed at the HB Plant, then transported to Intrepid's North Facility for compaction, granulation, storage, and shipping.
Equipment
at least six injection wells and five extraction wells, miles of pipelines, solar evaporation ponds, a beneficiation plant, and the use of the North Mine facility for final processing

Overview
The Wendover mine, owned and operated by Intrepid Potash–Wendover, LLC, a subsidiary of Intrepid Potash, Inc., is located in Utah, United States. The facility is situated near the Nevada-Utah border on the western edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert, within the Bonneville Salt Flats. This is a solar evaporation mine, also referred to as a brine recovery mine or solar solution mine. The mining process involves extracting naturally occurring, potassium-rich brines from subsurface aquifers. The brine is collected from two main sources: a shallow-brine aquifer and a deeper aquifer. The solid salts are then harvested and transported to the processing facility.

approximately 75,000 tons of potash per year
Processing
solar evaporation, harvested salts are dried, sized, and stored for shipment
Equipment
collection ditches, deep brine wells, pumping stations, solar evaporation ponds, processing facility
Expansion

Potassium
Opened
1963-01-01
Overview
The Moab mine, also known as Kane Creek potash mine, is an active in-situ solution mining operation in Grand County, Utah, 20 miles west of Moab. Originally a conventional underground mine opened in 1963 by Texas Gulf Sulphur, it converted to solution mining and solar evaporation in 1970 after an explosion. Intrepid Potash acquired it in 2000.
Processing
Solution mining involves injecting water into underground potash deposits to dissolve minerals, with the resulting brine pumped to surface solar evaporation ponds. A blue dye is added to speed evaporation, leaving crystallized potash and other salts. The facility produces granular and turf-grade potash with a minimum of 60% potassium oxide (K2O).

Gold
Mine life
11 years
Overview
The Kalana Project is a development-stage project currently in the permitting stage. It includes the Kalana and Kalanako deposits. Endeavour Mining holds an 80% interest. A previous Pre-Feasibility Study in 2021 outlined an 11-year mine life with 150,000 ounces of gold per year, but the company has since recognized a $200 million impairment and is now considering a smaller-scale operation due to geopolitical factors.
Expansion
An agreement was reached with the Malian government in July 2025 to develop the mine. Construction is expected to begin six months after the agreement, with production starting 18 months later. Ongoing study work now contemplates a smaller-scale operation, with $2.7 million invested in technical studies in Q4 2024.
