Overview
The Loulo-Gounkoto complex is located in the western region of Mali, near the border with Senegal and adjacent to the Falémé River. It consists of two distinct mining permits, Loulo and Gounkoto. The complex is owned by a partnership between Barrick Gold Corporation (80%) and the State of Mali (20%). A dispute with the government over Mali's 2023 mining code escalated in 2025. Barrick suspended operations on 14 January 2025, after the government restricted gold shipments and seized existing gold stock from the site. On 16 June 2025, a Malian court appointed a provisional state administrator to manage the mine. An agreement to resolve all disputes was announced in November 2025, which included a settlement payment from Barrick. The agreement led to the termination of the provisional administration and the dropping of all charges against Barrick and its employees. Barrick regained operational control on 16 December 2025, and the confiscated gold was returned on 18 December 2025. As part of the resolution, the government of Mali agreed to a 10-year extension for the Loulo mining permit.

The mine was connected to the national electricity grid in January 2024, which is expected to significantly lower operating costs. The company is also undertaking a multi-year exploration campaign to increase the mine's mineral resources.
Production
Production overview - 2024: gold 118746 oz; 2023: gold 141425 oz.
Processing
The Bomboré mine processes ore through two main circuits. The Phase I oxide plant has a throughput of 5.9 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) and processes near-surface free-dig oxides. The new, independent hard rock plant (Phase II expansion) is being constructed in stages. Stage 1 adds a 2.5 Mtpa hard rock circuit. Stage 2 will increase the hard rock plant throughput to 5.5 Mtpa. The processing involves a single-stage grinding ball mill followed by a seven-stage carbon-in-leach (CIL) and a standard Zadra gold recovery circuit.
Equipment
The mining fleet includes conventional truck and shovel equipment. For the hard rock expansion, new large-capacity trucks and excavators have been added. The processing plant includes a mineral sizer, a single-stage ball mill, and a carbon-in-leach (CIL) circuit. A new, larger SAG mill is being added for the hard rock expansion.
Expansion
Orezone Gold Corporation is currently expanding the Bomboré mine with a new hard rock processing facility. The first gold from the Stage 1 hard rock expansion was poured on 15 December 2025. This stage is expected to increase overall gold production to between 170,000 and 185,000 ounces in 2026. A Stage 2 expansion is also being advanced, which is forecast to further increase annual production to between 220,000 and 250,000 ounces. The hard rock expansion includes the installation of a new 4.4 Mtpa hard rock plant to operate alongside the existing oxide plant.

Lithium
Overview
a lithium brine exploration project located in the Salta province of Argentina, was part of Lithium Power International's (LPI) portfolio from the company's establishment and successful IPO in June 2016 until its divestment, which was finalised in 2021. During the period of LPI's involvement, the project was at an early exploration stage, and the company's focus subsequently shifted to its flagship Maricunga lithium brine project in Chile.
Processing
The project area is described as a closed drainage basin with high evaporation rates, which would favour the use of solar evaporation in processing.
