NickelCobaltScandium
Overview
The Kalgoorlie Nickel Project (KNP), operated by Ardea Resources, is a significant nickel-cobalt project in Western Australia. Its main component, the Goongarrie Hub, is located approximately 70 kilometres northwest of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. The project has been awarded Major Project Status by the Australian Federal Government.
Production
Projected production from the Pre-Feasibility Study (PFS) estimates an output of approximately 30,000 tonnes of nickel and 2,000 tonnes of cobalt per year for more than 40 years.
Processing
Proposed processing for the Goongarrie Hub is based on a High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) flowsheet. A DFS update in December 2025 indicated a simplified, higher-throughput 3.5Mtpa HPAL-only flowsheet, including autoclave optimisation, designed to produce Mixed Sulphide Precipitate (MSP).

Overview
The Kalpini Hub is a collective name for a series of projects including the Kalpini and Bulong Nickel Projects, the Emu Lake nickel sulphide project, and the Yerilla Hub (Jump Up Dam, Boyce Creek and Aubils projects). It is focused on nickel and cobalt, with identified occurrences of scandium and Rare Earth Elements (REE). The resources are found in shallow, flat-lying nickel laterite deposits on ultramafic komatiite rocks.
Processing
Two potential processing methods considered: a standalone facility at Kalpini using High Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) and Atmospheric Leach (AL), or hauling high-grade satellite feed to the proposed processing facility at the Goongarrie Hub.

As of June 2022, after resuming full production, the mine had re-employed 1,077 people, comprising 1,006 Tanzanian nationals and 71 expatriates.
Overview
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine is an operational underground mine located in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region in north-west Tanzania, approximately 55 kilometres south of Lake Victoria and 150 kilometres southwest of the city of Mwanza. It is a narrow-vein gold mine that contains gold, silver, and copper mineralisation in sulphides.
Production
Production overview - 2023: gold 180000 oz; 2021: gold 212000 oz.
Processing
The process plant has the capacity to process approximately 3,300 tonnes of ore per day. The processing methods involve a crushing and grinding circuit, a copper-gold-silver flotation circuit, and a Carbon-in-Leach (CIL) plant for gold extraction. The mine now produces gold bars on-site, having moved away from shipping concentrates for processing. A PhotonAssay laboratory was commissioned to improve mill feed. In 2024, a GlyCat (Glycine) project was implemented to reduce cyanide consumption by 80%.
Equipment
Bulyanhulu is an underground trackless mining operation. Mining methods include longhole sublevel stoping, conventional cut and fill, and mechanised drift and fill. The underground mine is accessed via a vertical shaft extending 1.1 kilometres deep and an internal ramp system from the surface.
Expansion
Barrick is focused on capital projects at Upper West and Reef 2. The Upper West boxcut was completed in mid-December 2024, and the decline portal has started, with the first ore expected by the end of 2025. As of July 2025, the development of the Upper West decline was well advanced. Excavation of the Reef 2 Upper East is planned to start in 2026 to access near-surface reserves. The current focus is on ramping up decline development to access the new Deep West mineral reserves and to define further exploration potential in Reef 2. In December 2021, Bulyanhulu acquired six prospecting licences in areas adjacent to the mine to potentially add significant mineral reserves.
