Overview
The Cerro Los Gatos Mine, operated by the Los Gatos Joint Venture (LGJV) where Gatos Silver holds a 70% interest, encompasses the South-East Deeps (SE Deeps) zone. The mine utilizes longhole and drift-and-fill mining methods and processes ore using conventional sulphide flotation.

For the year ended 31 December 2024, production was approximately 91,150 tonnes of contained zinc and lead combined, and 1,044,000 ounces of contained silver. For the year ended 31 December 2022, the operation produced approximately 86,855 tonnes of contained zinc and lead combined, and 1,288,000 ounces of contained silver.
Processing
Ore is processed at the concentrator located at the Southern Operations, which produces zinc and lead concentrates. These concentrates are transported by rail to Port Pirie in South Australia for export.
Equipment
The operation comprises three main underground mining areas: the Southern Operations, Potosi Operations, and the North Mine. Ore is crushed underground before being hoisted to the surface for processing at the Southern Operations concentrator. Mining methods include longhole open stoping and pillar extraction.
Expansion
On 12 January 2025, a fire in the Southern Operations led to the temporary evacuation of 46 workers and a halt to operations. Perilya entered a binding agreement with Hydrostor in September 2023 to construct a 200 MW / 1,600 MWh advanced compressed-air energy storage facility within the Potosi Mine workings.
