Mined material is trucked to the surface and then hauled 28 kilometres by road to the FoxCentral - Stock mill. The ore is fed into the mill's crushing circuit via a conveyor system.
Expansion
Ramp development at the Froome underground mine began in 2020, with initial stope production in early 2021. Recent exploration success at the Froome West zone is a key focus for extending the mine's operational life. As of December 2025, four drills were active at Froome West, and underground access had been established on four levels in the upper portion, where mining has commenced. An updated resource estimate for Froome West was planned for the end of February 2026. Continued success could allow for concurrent mining at Froome and the nearby Stock mine, which is expected to commence production in the second half of 2026.

Carnegie Potash Project

Western Australia, Australia · Solution

Potassium
Overview
The Carnegie Potash Project was an early-stage exploration project located approximately 220 kilometres east-north-east of Wiluna in Western Australia. The project was considered prospective for a large sub-surface brine deposit that could be developed into a solar evaporation and processing operation to produce sulphate of potash. A significant change in the project's viability occurred on 5 May 2023, when the Western Australian Government announced the creation of a new nature reserve at Lake Carnegie, which overlapped a large portion of the exploration licence applications. As a result, the joint venture partners decided to relinquish their interests.

Workforce
As of September 2023, the operation employed over 1,000 people (520 full-time, 560 contractors). In 2022, it sustained over 600 jobs annually, expected to double to 1,200 during expansion construction.
Overview
The Island Gold District comprises the Island Gold underground mine and the adjacent Magino open-pit mine in Ontario, Canada. It is undergoing a significant multi-phase expansion to increase production and extend mine life.
Production
For 2025, the district produced 250,400 ounces of gold. 2026 guidance is 290,000-330,000 ounces. Post-2028 expansion, annual production is expected to average 534,000 ounces over the first 10 years.
Processing
Currently, ore from the Island Gold underground mine is processed at the 1,200 tpd Kremzar mill, with some at the Magino mill. The Kremzar mill is expected to be decommissioned in 2025. All ore from both mines will then be processed through an expanded and centralized Magino mill, which is being expanded to 20,000 tpd with a new parallel circuit.
Equipment
The Island Gold underground operation is accessed via a ramp system. A new shaft is being installed to an initial depth of 1,379 metres, designed for an ultimate depth of 2,000 metres. A new paste plant for backfill is also included in the expansion.
Expansion
The mine is undergoing a significant, multi-phase expansion, including the Phase 3+ Expansion to be completed in late 2026, doubling underground throughput to 2,400 tpd. A larger district expansion to 20,000 tpd is expected by 2028, increasing underground mining rates to 3,000 tpd and open-pit processing to 17,000 tpd. The adjacent Magino mine was acquired in July 2024 and is being integrated to form the Island Gold District, utilizing Magino's larger mill and tailings facility. A February 2026 study outlines a US$542 million investment for milling capacity upgrades.

Overview
The Corcoesto gold project's development was halted when the regional government of Galicia denied its permit. This decision was subsequently upheld by both the Galician Superior Tribunal of Justice and Spain's Supreme Tribunal, citing the project's lack of financial and technical solvency. An attempt by the project's developer, Edgewater Exploration, to seek compensation from Spain through international arbitration was dismissed by a United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL) tribunal in 2020. The project had faced significant local opposition. There is no indication of any current efforts to restart the project.

As of December 2023, the Windfall project employed around 370 people, of which 230 were contractors. During the construction phase, it is expected that over 1,000 direct and indirect jobs will be created, with more than 670 direct permanent jobs during operation.
Production
The average annual production over the life of the mine is expected to be 306,000 ounces of gold. Peak production is estimated at 374,000 ounces of gold in the second year of operation.
Processing
The processing plant will have a nominal capacity of 3,400 tonnes per day. The grinding circuit will be a semi-autogenous ball mill crusher (SABC) configuration. The process includes a gravity circuit to recover free gold, followed by intensive leaching. The cyclone overflow will be treated in a leaching and carbon-in-pulp (CIP) circuit, with gold and silver recovered through an adsorption-desorption process. The average recovery is expected to be 93%. The site is powered by hydroelectricity.
Equipment
The underground mine will be accessed by a dual ramp system. The mining method will be Longitudinal Longhole Stoping. Equipment will include haul trucks (50-60 tonnes capacity), scooptrams (6-10 m³ capacity), and hydraulic jumbo drills. An order has been placed with FLSmidth for a 7.3-metre diameter semi-autogenous grinding (SAG) mill and a 5.2-metre diameter ball mill.
Expansion
Gold Fields Limited completed the acquisition of Osisko Mining Inc. in October 2024, consolidating 100% ownership of the Windfall project. The project is now operated by Gold Fields' subsidiary, Windfall Mining Group Inc. The estimated capital expenditure for the project has been revised to a range of C$1.7-C$1.9 billion. Construction is slated to begin in the second quarter of 2025, with the first gold production expected in late 2026 or early 2027. An Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) study was submitted in the first quarter of 2023.
