Sunrise Bauxite Project (Binjour)

Queensland, Australia · Open Pit

Under Development
Bauxite
Overview
The Sunrise Bauxite Project aims to extract direct shipping ore (DSO) bauxite for export through the Port of Bundaberg.
Production
The initial development stage is focused on securing permits to extract at least 800,000 tonnes of DSO bauxite. The project has a JORC-compliant resource of 37 million tonnes of gibbsite-type metallurgical bauxite.
Processing
The project plan involves the extraction of direct shipping ore (DSO) bauxite for export through the Port of Bundaberg. An updated project design plans to use common user infrastructure at the port, which is expected to reduce capital costs and time to production.
Expansion
A two-stage development program is underway following a strategic investment from GII. Stage 1 involves finalising the mine plan, securing government approvals and land access, and designing port infrastructure. Stage 2 will involve the construction of mine and port infrastructure.

Rare Earth Elements
Overview
The Wind Break Rare Earths Project is an emerging ionic adsorption clay-hosted rare earth element discovery in northern Tasmania, located 40-45 km west of Launceston. It is part of a larger project area with Deep Leads and Rubble Mound. ABx Group is developing the project for commercial production of a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) from its ionic rare earth resources, leveraging existing infrastructure. The combined JORC-compliant mineral resource is 89 million tonnes, featuring high dysprosium and terbium. Initial drilling confirmed thick, clay-hosted high-grade REE.

Deep Leads Rare Earths Project

Northern Tasmania, Australia · Open Pit

Under Development
Rare Earth Elements
Overview
The Deep Leads project is located approximately 40 to 50 kilometres west of Launceston in a commercial pine plantation. It is a significant ionic adsorption clay (IAC) rare earths project, a type of deposit that is rare outside of China and can be processed with lower costs. In late 2022, a maiden JORC resource of 3.94 million tonnes averaging 918ppm TREO (total rare earth oxide) was declared. More recent announcements state a JORC-compliant mineral resource of 89 million tonnes across the Deep Leads, Rubble Mound and Wind Break deposits. The project is noted for its high concentration of valuable heavy rare earths dysprosium (Dy) and terbium (Tb).
Production
The company's strategy is to commence commercial production of a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) as soon as possible.
Processing
The ionic adsorption clay allows for a low-cost, three-step leaching method using ammonium sulphate. Tests conducted by the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) have shown high extraction rates, exceeding 80 per cent. ABx Group has successfully produced a mixed rare earth carbonate (MREC) sample, which is the standard tradable product. This MREC has been validated as high-quality and suitable for commercial processing by the US-based company Rare Earth Technologies Inc. (RETi). ABx and RETi are now in discussions regarding a potential commercial supply agreement.
Expansion
As of March 2026, ABx Group announced the discovery of new areas of high-extraction ionic adsorption clay, which has prompted the move to the project development stage.

Overview
Reactivation. Active mining and crushing ceased in mid-2018. Production since has been from residual leaching. The mine is now being redeveloped under the "Fenix Project". An extension for the Environmental Impact Assessment was granted in December 2025, allowing for the commencement of Phase 1 mill construction.
Production
Phase 1 is projected to produce approximately 20,000 gold equivalent ounces annually once commercial production is achieved. The first gold pour is anticipated in mid-2027. In 2025, production from residual activities was 1,152 gold equivalent ounces. From 2012 until mining ceased in 2018, the mine produced 279,000 ounces of gold and 134,000 ounces of silver.
Processing
The redevelopment includes constructing a new mill to reprocess material from the historical heap leach pad in Phase 1. A ball mill has been purchased and is on-site. Phase 2 will transition to processing in-situ silver deposits.
Expansion
The mine is undergoing a two-phased redevelopment known as the Fenix Project. Phase 1 involves the construction of a mill to reprocess the heap leach material, with construction scheduled to start in mid-2026. The remaining capital expenditure for this phase is an estimated US$25 million. Phase 2 will focus on the in-situ silver deposits, including the El Gallo Silver, Palmarito, and El Gallo deep deposits. The company plans to update the resource estimates for El Gallo in 2026.

The October 2025 Feasibility Study projects an average annual production of 148,200 tonnes of copper cathode over the life of the mine. For the first five years, production is expected to average 204,800 tonnes per year.
Processing
The project will use heap leaching and a solvent extraction and electrowinning (SX/EW) facility to produce high-purity copper cathodes on site.
Expansion
The project received its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) approval for construction and operation in December 2024. In September 2025, the project was admitted to Argentina's Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI), providing 30 years of fiscal and legal stability. Construction is targeted to begin in 2027, with first copper production anticipated in 2029 or 2030. The initial capital expenditure is estimated at $3.17 billion. McEwen Copper is planning an Initial Public Offering (IPO) towards the end of 2026 to raise approximately $300 million as part of a larger $4 billion financing package for the project. The operation will be powered by 100% renewable energy. There is potential to extend the mine life by more than 30 years by processing primary sulfide ores with Nuton's technology or a conventional concentrator.
