Overview
The Atlas‑Campaspe Mine is a mineral sands mining operation located near Hatfield in New South Wales, Australia. It primarily produces heavy mineral sands
Production
Extractive mining began in 2022, and the mine commenced full production in early 2023. The project involves the sequential mining of two deposits, Atlas and Campaspe. Mining at the Atlas deposit is expected to be completed in 2028, at which point production will be replaced by the Campaspe deposit.
Processing
A dry mining technique is used to extract the ore. The ore is concentrated at the mine site before the heavy mineral concentrate is transported by truck to the Ivanhoe rail siding. From there, it is transported by train to the Mineral Separation Plant at Broken Hill for further processing. The combined facilities of the Eastern Operations can produce approximately 450,000 tonnes of heavy mineral concentrate per year.
