Nelligan Mining Complex

Québec, Canada · Open Pit

Under Development
Gold
Overview
The Nelligan project is a large-scale, open-pit gold exploration project located in the Nord-du-Québec region of Québec, Canada. It is situated approximately 60 kilometres southwest of Chibougamau and 45 kilometres south of Chapais. The project is fully owned and operated by IAMGOLD Corporation. The company has consolidated its land position in the Chibougamau district, combining the Nelligan project with the nearby Monster Lake, Philibert, Chevrier, and Croteau projects to form the Nelligan Mining Complex.
Processing
Preliminary metallurgical test work suggests a processing flowsheet incorporating flotation with regrinding could improve gold recovery compared to direct cyanidation of the whole ore. One study indicated a sulphide flotation circuit followed by cyanidation and carbon-in-leach could yield a gold recovery of about 92%. An optimal flow sheet has not yet been selected.
