Overview
The Round Mountain mine is a large open-pit, heap-leach gold mine located in Round Mountain, Nye County, Nevada. It is owned and operated by Kinross Gold Corporation. The project includes the Gold Hill deposit. The company is proceeding with the Round Mountain Phase X project, which involves a transition to bulk-tonnage underground mining.
Production

Processing
Milling and heap leaching. Lower-grade oxide ore is treated via run-of-mine heap leaching, while higher-grade ores are crushed before being heap leached. Higher-grade sulphide ores undergo gravity and flotation concentration, with the concentrate then leached in the mill. Final products are high-grade gold and silver concentrates processed in a refinery furnace, and gold and silver cyanide solutions treated at an Adsorption, Desorption, and Reactivation (ADR) facility. A new Vertical Carbon-in-Column (VCIC) solution processing plant was constructed for Phase W.

Workforce
As of 2023, the mine employed 546 employees and 164 contractors, for a total of 710 personnel. In 2020, the workforce consisted of 591 employees and 194 contract workers.
Overview
Bald Mountain is a large open-pit, heap leach gold mine located in White Pine County, Nevada, along the southern extension of the Carlin trend. It is the largest mine site by land area in the United States. The mine consists of multiple pits, with the two main deposits being Saga and LBM.
Production
2025 (expected): 179,169 gold equivalent ounces. 2024: 181,047 ounces of gold equivalent. 2021: 204,890 gold equivalent ounces. 2018: 284,616 ounces of gold.
Processing
The mine uses conventional run-of-mine heap leach technology. Gold is extracted from the ore with a cyanide solution and then collected on activated carbon in carbon-in-column (CIC) plants. The water recycle rate in 2023 was 93%.
Equipment
The mining operations utilize standard open pit methods with haul trucks (Komatsu and Caterpillar), front-end loaders, and electric and hydraulic shovels (P&H and Hitachi). The mine has multiple run-of-mine heap leach pads and carbon-in-column plants for processing.
Expansion
A proposed expansion, the Juniper Project, would add nearly 4,000 acres to the operation and extend the mine life by 11 years. The Redbird 2 project, which includes the development of the Redbird pit and five satellite pits, is expected to have its first production in 2028 and produce an average of approximately 155,000 gold ounces per year between 2028-2031.

Operating
GoldSilver
End year
2028
Mine life
4 years
Workforce
The project creates between 400 and 600 jobs. A 2026 report stated the mine employs roughly 300 people.
Overview
The Manh Choh Project, formerly known as the Peak Gold project, is located in Tok, Alaska, United States. It is an open-pit mine that produces gold and silver. The project is operated by Kinross Gold Corporation, which holds a 70% ownership interest, with the remaining 30% held by Contango ORE, Inc. The project is situated on land leased from the Native Village of Tetlin.
Production
For the 2025 fiscal year, Contango's 30% share of production totalled approximately 60,200 gold equivalent ounces, which included 57,315 ounces of silver. Total recovered gold in 2025 was approximately 198,500 ounces. The first production campaign for 2026 commenced on 5 February 2026. Production guidance for Contango's share is estimated to be 40,000 to 45,000 ounces of gold for fiscal year 2026 and 75,000 to 80,000 ounces of gold for fiscal year 2027.
Processing
Ore is mined at the Manh Choh site and then transported approximately 250 miles (about 400 kilometres) via the Alaska, Richardson, and Steese highways to the existing mill and infrastructure at the Fort Knox mine for processing. This approach eliminates the need for a mill and tailings facility at the Manh Choh site.
Equipment
The mine utilises a conventional truck and shovel operation. A fleet of purpose-built, 95-foot-long trucks hauls the ore. These trucks are equipped with anti-lock brake systems, speed monitors, AI-powered fatigue monitoring, and internal and external cameras.

The mill has a daily capacity of up to 45,000 tons and consists of a primary crusher, a semi-autogenous grinding mill, two ball mills, and a gravity separation circuit. The processing methods include carbon-in-pulp (CIP) for higher-grade ore and cyanide heap leaching for lower-grade ore. The heap leach operation is a valley-fill system. In 2024, the mine began processing ore from the Manh Choh mine.

Overview
The Libby Exploration Project, formerly known as Montanore, is a 100% owned underground silver and copper exploration and evaluation initiative by Hecla Mining Company, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Montanore Minerals Corporation. It is located in Lincoln County, approximately 20 aerial miles south of the town of Libby. The project's objective is to conduct underground exploration to assess the feasibility for a potential future mine by collecting data on mineralisation, geology, and hydrology. The U.S. Forest Service issued a final approval for the Plan of Operations on 3 October 2025. However, in March 2026, a coalition of environmental groups filed a lawsuit challenging the federal approval, citing concerns over the environmental review process and potential impacts on wildlife and the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness.
Expansion
The current Plan of Operations involves dewatering and rehabilitating an existing 7,000-foot adit. The plan includes extending this tunnel by an additional 4,200 feet and constructing more tunnels for exploration purposes. To manage waste rock, the company plans to expand the existing storage area and build a second site.

Overview
Located in the Coeur d'Alene Mining District in northern Idaho, the Lucky Friday mine is a deep underground silver, lead, and zinc operation. Hecla Mining Company owns and operates 100% of the property. The mine, which began operating in 1942, was temporarily suspended in August 2023 due to a fire but restarted production on January 9, 2024.
Production
Production overview - 2025: silver 5.3 Moz, lead 34.28 kt, zinc 14.92 kt; 2024: silver 4.9 Moz, lead 31.265 kt, zinc 13.513 kt.
Processing
The mine has a conventional silver and zinc flotation concentrator with a nominal capacity of 1,000 short tons per day. The process includes primary jaw crushing, secondary and tertiary cone crushing, screening, and ball milling to produce silver-lead and zinc concentrates. The concentrates are transported by truck to the Teck smelter in Trail, British Columbia, Canada. Metallurgical recoveries in 2025 were 94.5% for silver, 94.3% for lead, and 85.1% for zinc. For 2023, metallurgical recoveries were 96% for silver, 95% for lead, and 85% for zinc.
Equipment
The principal mining method is the Underhand Closed Bench (UCB), a patented method developed by Hecla to control fault-slip seismicity in deep, narrow-vein mining. In 2025, 88% of the tons mined were produced using the UCB method. Access to all underground workings is via the Silver Shaft, and an internal hoisting shaft, the #4 Shaft, extends access to 9,600 feet below the surface.
Expansion
A capital investment of up to $73 million is planned for the coming years. Key projects include the #4 Shaft, which is now complete and operational, providing access to the highest-grade ore in the mine's history and is expected to support an additional 20-30 years of mine life. Other projects include a new tailings facility and a surface cooling project, which is critical for mining at depth and is expected to be completed by mid-2026. As of November 2025, the cooling project was 66% complete. In 2024, exploration drilling was planned for an area east of the 30 Vein.
