Overview
The Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park Nickel and Cobalt Operations comprise two distinct facilities: the Huayue Nickel Cobalt (HNC) HPAL project and the Ranger Nickel project. Both are located within the Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia, and Nickel Industries Limited is a stakeholder in both. The HNC project commenced production in November 2021, while Ranger Nickel began NPI production in May 2019.
Production
In 2024, the Huayue Nickel Cobalt (HNC) project produced 83,410 tonnes of nickel and 7,687 tonnes of cobalt contained in MHP. The Ranger Nickel project produced 19,550 tonnes of nickel metal in NPI in 2023, and 16,635 tonnes of nickel for the 2025 financial year.

The Huayue Nickel Cobalt (HNC) project is a High-Pressure Acid Leach (HPAL) facility that processes limonite ore to produce Mixed Hydroxide Precipitate (MHP) for the electric vehicle battery supply chain. The Ranger Nickel project is a Rotary Kiln Electric Furnace (RKEF) plant that produces nickel pig iron (NPI) for the stainless-steel industry.

The Sambalagi Project is an integrated nickel mining and processing operation developed by PT Vale Indonesia Tbk, located in the Morowali Regency of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. The project consists of mining operations in the Bungku Timur and Bahodopi subdistricts, with the processing facilities situated in Sambalagi Village, Bungku Pesisir subdistrict.
