Overview
Prominent Hill is an underground copper, gold, and silver mine situated in the Gawler Craton, 650 kilometres north-west of Adelaide, South Australia. The mine, which commenced operations in 2009, was initially an open-pit operation but has since transitioned to being principally underground. Ore is sourced from the Ankata and Malu underground open stoping mine areas. BHP assumed ownership of the mine on 2 May 2023, as part of its acquisition of OZ Minerals. The mine is now part of BHP's Copper South Australia province.

Processing
The processing method involves conventional crushing, grinding, and flotation to produce a high-grade copper concentrate.
Equipment
The underground mining operations utilise large-scale equipment, including 21-tonne capacity Sandvik LH621 loaders which are operated via remote control and autonomous guidance systems, and Sandvik underground haul trucks for transport to the surface portal.
Expansion
The Prominent Hill Operation Expansion (PHOX) project is a significant development to extend the mine's life and increase production. A key component of this expansion is the construction of the Wira Shaft, a vertical hoisting shaft that will be 1,331 metres deep. This new shaft is designed to transition the mine from truck haulage to a more efficient shaft ore hoisting system. The PHOX project is expected to be completed in the second half of the 2027 financial year and will extend the mine life to at least 2040. Monadelphous has been awarded a contract for the construction of the surface materials handling system, winder building, and hoist, with this work expected to be completed in the second half of 2025.

Overview
The Bell Creek Mine and Mill form the Bell Creek Complex, an integrated operation within Pan American Silver Corp.'s Timmins operation in Ontario, Canada. The Timmins operation includes the active underground Bell Creek Mine and Timmins West Mine, both supplying ore to the central Bell Creek Mill for processing.
Production
The Timmins operation produced 132,900 ounces of gold and 16,000 ounces of silver in 2023. In 2024, production was 123,700 ounces of gold and 15,000 ounces of silver.
Processing
Ore from both the Bell Creek and Timmins West mines is processed at the Bell Creek Mill, which has a throughput capacity of approximately 4,400 tonnes per day. The conventional gold processing circuit involves single-stage crushing and grinding, gravity recovery, pre-oxidation, and cyanidation with carbon-in-leach (CIL) and carbon-in-pulp (CIP) recovery.
Equipment
The mine features a 1,080-metre-deep production shaft and a paste backfill plant. The mill infrastructure includes a truck dump, a crusher building, a 6,000-tonne ore storage dome, and a Semi-Autogenous Grinding (SAG) mill.
Expansion
Future developments for the Timmins operation include a planned expansion of the tailings storage facility and studies for a potential extension of the Bell Creek shaft. The company is also exploring satellite deposits, such as the Vogel Project, located near the Bell Creek Mine. The Bell Creek Mill has an arrangement to process material from Galleon Gold's nearby West Cache Gold Project on a tolling basis.
