A surface mining contract was awarded to NRW Holdings, which commenced in November 2024. Haulage of ore from Castle Hill to the Mungari plant began in the second half of 2025. The development of Castle Hill is part of a broader expansion at Mungari which extends the operation's mine life to at least 2038.
