Workforce
At the end of 2024, the Vareš operations had a workforce of 549 people. Approximately 27% of the mine's employees are women.
Overview
The Vareš Silver Project, also known as the Vareš Operation, is an active underground polymetallic mine located in the Zenica-Doboj Canton of Bosnia and Herzegovina, approximately 50 kilometres north of Sarajevo. It achieved commercial production on 1 July 2025 and comprises the Rupice underground mine and the historical Veovača open-pit deposit. The operation was originally developed by Adriatic Metals Plc and is now owned by DPM Metals Inc. following an acquisition in September 2025.
Production
Initial production guidance for 2024 targeted between 240,000 and 300,000 tonnes of ore mined. For the period of 3 September to 31 December 2025, 78,900 tonnes of ore were processed, yielding 533,400 ounces of silver and 5,900 ounces of gold, along with copper, lead, and zinc. The production forecast for 2026 is for 30,000 to 35,000 ounces of gold and 3.5 to 4.1 million ounces of silver.
Processing
The extracted ore is treated at the modern Vareš Processing Plant, which has a nameplate capacity of 800,000 tonnes per annum. The process involves a three-stage crushing circuit with a primary jaw crusher and secondary and tertiary cone crushers, followed by grinding in a ball mill and cyclones. Valuable minerals are then separated through flotation to produce silver-lead-gold and silver-zinc concentrates.
Equipment
The mine's equipment includes Sandvik Toro® LH517i and Toro® LH514 underground loaders, which are part of an AutoMine® Multi-Lite automation system with two operator stations.
Expansion
An expansion to increase the processing plant capacity from 800,000 tonnes per annum to 1.3 million tonnes per annum is under assessment, with a target of reaching this rate by 2027.

Workforce
As of 2023, the mine employed 546 employees and 164 contractors, for a total of 710 personnel. In 2020, the workforce consisted of 591 employees and 194 contract workers.
Overview
Bald Mountain is a large open-pit, heap leach gold mine located in White Pine County, Nevada, along the southern extension of the Carlin trend. It is the largest mine site by land area in the United States. The mine consists of multiple pits, with the two main deposits being Saga and LBM.
Production
2025 (expected): 179,169 gold equivalent ounces. 2024: 181,047 ounces of gold equivalent. 2021: 204,890 gold equivalent ounces. 2018: 284,616 ounces of gold.
Processing
The mine uses conventional run-of-mine heap leach technology. Gold is extracted from the ore with a cyanide solution and then collected on activated carbon in carbon-in-column (CIC) plants. The water recycle rate in 2023 was 93%.
Equipment
The mining operations utilize standard open pit methods with haul trucks (Komatsu and Caterpillar), front-end loaders, and electric and hydraulic shovels (P&H and Hitachi). The mine has multiple run-of-mine heap leach pads and carbon-in-column plants for processing.
Expansion
A proposed expansion, the Juniper Project, would add nearly 4,000 acres to the operation and extend the mine life by 11 years. The Redbird 2 project, which includes the development of the Redbird pit and five satellite pits, is expected to have its first production in 2028 and produce an average of approximately 155,000 gold ounces per year between 2028-2031.

Operating
GoldSilver
End year
2028
Mine life
4 years
Workforce
The project creates between 400 and 600 jobs. A 2026 report stated the mine employs roughly 300 people.
Overview
The Manh Choh Project, formerly known as the Peak Gold project, is located in Tok, Alaska, United States. It is an open-pit mine that produces gold and silver. The project is operated by Kinross Gold Corporation, which holds a 70% ownership interest, with the remaining 30% held by Contango ORE, Inc. The project is situated on land leased from the Native Village of Tetlin.
Production
For the 2025 fiscal year, Contango's 30% share of production totalled approximately 60,200 gold equivalent ounces, which included 57,315 ounces of silver. Total recovered gold in 2025 was approximately 198,500 ounces. The first production campaign for 2026 commenced on 5 February 2026. Production guidance for Contango's share is estimated to be 40,000 to 45,000 ounces of gold for fiscal year 2026 and 75,000 to 80,000 ounces of gold for fiscal year 2027.
Processing
Ore is mined at the Manh Choh site and then transported approximately 250 miles (about 400 kilometres) via the Alaska, Richardson, and Steese highways to the existing mill and infrastructure at the Fort Knox mine for processing. This approach eliminates the need for a mill and tailings facility at the Manh Choh site.
Equipment
The mine utilises a conventional truck and shovel operation. A fleet of purpose-built, 95-foot-long trucks hauls the ore. These trucks are equipped with anti-lock brake systems, speed monitors, AI-powered fatigue monitoring, and internal and external cameras.

Processing
The mine utilises a mill and a heap leach facility for ore processing. The mill has a daily capacity of up to 45,000 tons and consists of a primary crusher, a semi-autogenous grinding mill, two ball mills, and a gravity separation circuit. The processing methods include carbon-in-pulp (CIP) for higher-grade ore and cyanide heap leaching for lower-grade ore. The heap leach operation is a valley-fill system. In 2024, the mine began processing ore from the Manh Choh mine.
