In March 2026, Hemlo Mining Corp. transitioned to an owner-operated underground mining model, retaining 97% of the former contractor workforce and filling an additional 42 positions. The total workforce is approximately 700, including contractors and temporary employees.
Overview
The Hemlo mine, located approximately 35 kilometres east of Marathon, Ontario, is an operating underground gold mine. Historically, it comprised the Williams, Golden Giant, and David Bell mines, with current operations centred on the Williams mine. Barrick Gold Corporation sold the mine to Hemlo Mining Corp. on 26 November 2025.
Production
In 2025, the mine produced 143,458 ounces of gold. For the first quarter of 2026, the mine produced 34,764 ounces of gold.
Processing
The processing plant has a capacity of up to 10,000 tonnes per day, involving grinding, cyanide leaching, carbon-in-pulp, carbon stripping and reactivation, electrowinning, and refining. In early 2026, the mill was running at about 3,800 tonnes per day, with potential to increase to 4,800 tonnes per day without significant upgrades. Metallurgical recovery for gold averaged 94% in 2025. The underground complex is accessed via a shaft and ramp system with a hoisting capacity of 6,000 tonnes per day.
Equipment
A new Sandvik TH430 30-tonne haul truck was delivered in early 2026. The company plans to add 21 new pieces of mobile equipment throughout 2026, with two commissioned in the first quarter.
Expansion
A recommencement of open-pit mining at the Williams pit is planned to start in 2027 and reach full capacity in 2028. Hemlo Mining Corp. has initiated a 130,000-metre exploration drilling program for 2026 to extend the mine's life, focusing on converting inferred resources, high-definition drilling, and growth drilling.

The Cerro Los Gatos Mine, operated by the Los Gatos Joint Venture (LGJV) where Gatos Silver holds a 70% interest, encompasses the South-East Deeps (SE Deeps) zone. The mine utilizes longhole and drift-and-fill mining methods and processes ore using conventional sulphide flotation.

For the full year 2024, the Cerro Los Gatos mine produced 9.68 million ounces of silver, 69.7 million pounds of zinc, 46.4 million pounds of lead, and 5,530 ounces of gold.

The Thunderground underground mine is part of Northern Star Resources' broader Thunderbox Operations. It is a simple, long-life underground operation that was in development and progressing in 2019 and 2020. By July 2020, the first production stope was blasted, with ore production ramping up.

The Mt Charlotte underground mine is part of Northern Star Resources Ltd's Kalgoorlie Consolidated Gold Mines (KCGM) Operations. It is located adjacent to the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, approximately 600 kilometres east of Perth in Western Australia, Australia. The mine has a long history, with large-scale, mechanised underground bulk-mining in continuous operation since 1963. As of 31 March 2024, the Mineral Resource for Mt Charlotte was 4.1 million ounces of gold. The mine is a significant contributor to the KCGM Operations.

The Ramone underground mine is an operational gold mine in the Northern Goldfields region of Western Australia. It is a satellite operation of the Jundee Operations, located 35 kilometres southeast of the Jundee processing plant. Ore from Ramone is hauled via road train and provides supplementary feed to the Jundee processing plant.

The Porphyry Project is an active gold mine located approximately 120 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. It is a component of Northern Star's broader Carosue Dam Operations (CDO). The mining centre consists of both open pit (Wallbrook) and underground operations.
Production
Specific production figures for the Porphyry mine are not reported separately but are included in the totals for the Carosue Dam Operations.
Processing
Ore is hauled 45 kilometres to the Carosue Dam Operations mill for processing. The processing circuit is a conventional carbon-in-leach (CIL) plant. Gold is recovered through gravity concentration and CIL cyanidation.

FY25 gold production was 283koz. For the June 2025 quarter, gold sales were 85koz as the mill delivered a record annualised run-rate of 1.6Mtpa. In 2022, the Pogo Mine produced approximately 242,808 ounces of gold from 1,343,965 tons of ore milled.
Processing
The processing circuit involves gravity concentration, gold and sulphide flotation, and leaching and adsorption of gold with a leach/carbon-in-pulp (CIP) unit operation. The process plant has a hard rock processing capacity of 1.3Mtpa, which was expanded from 1.0Mtpa in FY22.
Equipment
The mine utilises four portals to access the underground mining areas.
Expansion
Mining methods have transitioned from primarily cut-and-fill to mostly longhole stoping with paste filling. Two new portals were successfully developed in the September 2025 quarter for improved ore access and enhanced haulage efficiency. FY26 growth capital expenditure for Pogo is forecast to be in the range of US$60-65 million.

The Bronzewing Operations are situated within the Yandal Greenstone Belt, 80 kilometres northeast of Leinster, Western Australia. Northern Star Resources acquired the operations in December 2019 through the takeover of Echo Resources. The site was previously on care and maintenance since March 2013. Mining is currently centred on the Orelia open pit, which began pre-production in FY2023 and processed first ore in June 2023. The Orelia pit serves as a high-grade feed source for the expanded Thunderbox mill. The Bronzewing processing plant, which has a milling capacity of up to 1.8 million tonnes per annum, remains on care and maintenance. Production from the Bronzewing Operations is included in the figures for the Thunderbox Operations (TBO).

The Thunderbox Gold Mine, also known as Thunderbox Operations, is located in the Yandal and Agnew-Wiluna Belts in the North Eastern Goldfields of Western Australia. It comprises open pit and underground mines, sourcing ore from Thunderbox underground, D Zone, Otto Bore, and the satellite Orelia open pit. The new Wonder underground mine commenced mining in November 2023.

In the December 2025 quarter, gold sales from the Yandal Production Centre, which includes Thunderbox, were 91,487 ounces.

The South Kalgoorlie Operations (SKO) are located approximately 35 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie, Western Australia. The operations are 100% owned by Northern Star Resources Ltd., which acquired them in 2018. Mining at SKO is focused on the HBJ (Hampton-Boulder-Jubilee) underground mine. The primary mining method is top-down long hole open stoping (LHOS).
Processing
Ore from the South Kalgoorlie Operations is now processed at Northern Star's Kanowna Belle processing facility, located 58 kilometres from the site. The Kanowna Belle plant has a processing capacity of 2 million tonnes per annum and can treat a range of ores through flotation and carbon-in-latch (CIL) circuits.
Expansion
In 2024, paste fill operations commenced to enable the full extraction of the high-grade Mutooroo North underground lodes. Recent exploration has also identified a new resource area at Mutooroo West.
