CopperGoldZinc
Overview
The Tererro Copper-Gold-Zinc VMS Project is located approximately 120 kilometres north-east of Albuquerque in New Mexico. The project is currently in the exploration and permitting phase. An application for a regular exploration permit (SF040ER) was submitted to the New Mexico Mining and Minerals Division (MMD) in May 2019, and the permitting process is ongoing. The United States Forest Service determined that an Environmental Assessment will be required to review the Plan of Operations. The issuance of this Environmental Assessment was delayed in 2022 due to fires and post-fire recovery efforts in the region.

Overview
The Javelin VMS Project is an early-stage exploration project operated by Australian mining company New World Resources. The project's status is currently "exploration," a revision from the previously listed "feasibility." In January 2024, New World Resources commenced an initial diamond core drilling program at the project to test the Discus Copper Prospect. The project consists of a contiguous series of 100%-owned mining claims covering approximately 5,000 acres. It is located about 75 kilometres south-east of New World Resources' Antler Copper Deposit, near the Bagdad porphyry copper mine. The company is exploring the potential for the Javelin project to serve as a satellite source of ore, which could be transported to a future processing facility at the Antler Project.

Workforce
Expected to employ 7,500 during peak construction and 4,000 long-term jobs once in production.
Overview
Development activity at the Reko Diq project has slowed, with Barrick extending a project review until mid-2027 due to escalating security risks. This review will assess security, capital, financing, scope, and timeline, potentially increasing budgets and delaying the first production target of late 2028.
Production
The project is not yet in production. Initial estimates for the first years of operation are for the production of 200,000 tonnes of copper and 250,000 ounces of gold annually. Another estimate suggests annual production of 200-250 kilotonnes of copper.
Processing
The operation will produce a high-quality copper-gold concentrate. Development is planned in two phases. Phase 1 is planned to process 45 million tonnes of ore per annum (mtpa). Phase 2, planned from 2034, is expected to double the processing capacity to a combined 90 mtpa.
Equipment
Truck-and-shovel open pit operation. Processing and mining equipment from Metso, Weir, and Komatsu. Fluor Corporation is the lead EPCM partner.
Expansion
Development is planned in two phases. Phase 1 is planned to process 45 million tonnes of ore per annum (mtpa). Phase 2, planned from 2034, is expected to double the processing capacity to a combined 90 mtpa.

expected to employ over 3,000 Papua New Guineans by the end of 2024
Overview
The Porgera mine, located in Enga Province, Papua New Guinea, is an open pit and underground gold and silver operation. It restarted operations on December 22, 2023, under a new 20-year Special Mining Lease (SML 13) and a new ownership structure, with Barrick Gold Corporation holding an indirect 24.5% interest. The first gold pour since the restart was expected in Q1 2024.
Production
Production overview - 2019: gold 284000 oz; 2009: gold 572595 oz, silver 94764 oz.
Processing
The processing plant has a capacity of approximately 6 million tonnes per year. The process involves crushing and grinding, followed by flotation to recover a sulphide concentrate. This concentrate is then treated with pressure oxidation and a conventional carbon-in-pulp (CIP) cyanide leaching circuit to recover gold. The plant also includes a gravity recovery circuit.
Equipment
The open pit mining fleet has included O&K RH200 shovels and Caterpillar 789 haul trucks. In early 2025, an order was placed for seven new Sandvik surface drill rigs, including four DR410i rotary blasthole drills and three Leopard™ DI650i down-the-hole drills, to replace an aging fleet.
Expansion
The Porgera mine was placed on care and maintenance in April 2020. Following negotiations, a new agreement was reached, and the mine officially restarted operations on 22 December 2023. A New Porgera Progress Agreement (NPPA) was signed in early 2023, confirming the commitment of all parties to reopen the mine. The new ownership structure is designed to provide a greater share of the economic benefits to PNG stakeholders, who are expected to receive 53% of the overall economic benefits over the life of the mine.

Processing
The mine has a dual-circuit processing plant for sulphide and oxide ore, which uses a conventional carbon-in-leach process with gravity recovery.
Equipment
The mine is powered by three hydropower stations. The commissioning of a 16MW solar plant with an integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) has been completed. This increases the renewable energy component of the mine's energy mix to 85%, allowing it to operate on 100% renewable power for six months of the year. Four electrical 50-tonne trucks were delivered to the site for trialling.
Expansion
As of 31 December 2025, Proven and Probable Mineral Reserves total 110 million tonnes at 2.97 g/t Au for 11 million ounces of gold. Measured and Indicated Mineral Resources are 200 million tonnes at 2.79 g/t Au for 18 million ounces of gold, and Inferred Resources are 49 million tonnes at 2.1 g/t Au for 3.3 million ounces of gold. The life-of-mine plan expects to process 113 million tonnes of ore at a grade of 2.96 g/t Au to deliver 9.51 million ounces of gold. Exploration in the ARK-KCD corridor continues to show potential to extend the mine's life.

Production
Production overview - 2023: copper 212000 t, gold 186000 oz.
Processing
Olympic Dam is a fully integrated metallurgical complex that processes ore to final metal products on a single site. The process involves grinding and a flotation circuit to produce a copper concentrate. A hydrometallurgical plant with solvent extraction is used for copper and uranium, followed by a copper smelter and refinery. There is also a recovery circuit for precious metals.
Equipment
The mine utilises a highly mechanised underground mining method, including an automated rail system for ore haulage. Recent trials and additions to the equipment fleet include battery-electric jumbo drills and a new fleet of electric equipment for underground support works, such as the Utimec XL1100ED Agitator and a MF050VC Spraymec. The underground light vehicle fleet consists of around 240 vehicles, with trials of electric Land Cruisers underway. The underground electric rail network is being expanded from 4.85 kilometres to over 6 kilometres, supported by 6 new locomotives.
Expansion
BHP is investing over A$840 million in several projects to enhance productivity. This includes developing an underground access tunnel into the Southern Mine Area, a new backfill system to access previously unreachable ore, expanding ore pass capacity, and installing a new oxygen plant to improve smelter performance. There are also plans for a major smelter and refinery expansion to increase copper production capacity up to 650,000 tonnes per annum. This expansion will also allow for the processing of concentrate from other BHP mines in the region, such as Prominent Hill and Carrapateena. A final investment decision on a major expansion is anticipated in 2028.

Overview
Filo del Sol is an advanced-stage, high-sulphidation epithermal copper-gold-silver deposit. The project is located on the border between Argentina and Chile, approximately 140 kilometres south-east of the city of Copiapó. It spans the Atacama Region of northern Chile and the San Juan Province of Argentina.

Processing
The project will use a heap leach process. Run-of-mine ore will be crushed before being placed on a heap leach pad. Copper will be leached with acid, with the resulting solution undergoing solvent extraction and electrowinning to produce LME-grade copper cathodes. Following copper leaching, the ore will be rinsed and neutralised. This material will then be agglomerated and stacked on a separate heap leach pad for gold and silver recovery using a cyanide solution. Gold and silver will be recovered from the pregnant leach solution via the Merrill-Crowe zinc precipitation process and smelted into doré bars.
Equipment
Mining will be conducted using diesel hydraulic face shovels and front-end loaders on 12-metre benches. Haul trucks will transport ore to the crusher. The project plans to implement an autonomous haulage fleet. The processing plant will feature a primary crusher and a closed-circuit secondary crushing system.
Expansion
