The Resolution Copper Project in Arizona, operated by Resolution Copper, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and BHP, continues to move toward a critical federal permitting decision.

As one of the largest undeveloped copper deposits in North America, Resolution is expected to play a significant role in supplying copper for electrification and renewable energy infrastructure. The project is based on large-scale block caving, requiring substantial underground development and advanced geotechnical planning.

Recent activity has focused on environmental review processes and stakeholder engagement, which remain key to unlocking the project’s next phase. Technical planning continues in parallel, including shaft development and processing design.

If approved, Resolution Copper will create long-term demand for specialised underground contractors, shaft sinking expertise and processing infrastructure development. Its progression underscores the growing importance of domestic copper supply in the United States.
